PAST EVENT: The Worldwide Sensation, Jack Vettriano's Work Is Coming To Our Edinburgh Gallery!

He is arguably one of the most successful artists of the modern era, with his prints and original works adorning thousands of public venues and homes in Britain.Originally from Methil in Fife but now spending most of his time in London, he is the most accomplished living artist to come out of Scotland, with his paintings fetching anywhere between £200,000- £750,000. He has a seriously impressive track record, with his most iconic image 'The Singing Butler' being voted the UK's 3rd favourite work of art last year - beating the likes of  J.M.W Turner and Lowry - and sold for a jaw-dropping £750,000 at auction in 2004.

So with all that in mind, it is no wonder we are completely ecstatic about announcing the news that we will holding a very special and completely mesmerizing exhibition of the work of Vettriano between Saturday the 24th Of March and Thursday the 8th Of April 2018 in our Edinburgh gallery! We will have on display for you the largest collection of limited edition works ever to be seen together, stemming from his earlier career the 1990's - to more recently completed pieces, along with the original of the Billy Connolly Painting which he created in 2017 which Jack is kindly loaning to the gallery for show, and we cannot wait for you to join us for it! You will be able to view his dreamy beach scenes, sultry female figuratives, romantic snap-shots of man and woman and dramatic self-portraits - all of which he is most famed for. As well as its characteristic style of 1930s and 1940s scenes featuring glamorous brunettes in red dresses, set against beaches, bars, and bedrooms, you will also be able to view the hallmark of Vettriano’s work, its engaging narrative quality which is often described as ‘cinematic’.

Even more exciting than this - is that we will also have on display the recently completed and well publicised 'Dr Connolly, I Presume?' a depiction of the comedy legend Billy Connolly - which featured on Dixon Street near St Enoch Square in Glasgow as a mural last year to mark the comics 75th birthday. This is an incredible work of art, so this is definitely something you do not want to miss - especially if you are a massive Vettriano fan!
