Gill Knight

Gill Knight is a self-taught artist, based in Edinburgh.
 Having grown up in various places across south, east, west and central Scotland, Gill’s work –much of it inspired by the ever-changing Scottish weather – evokes a sense of memory and atmosphere of the landscape and environment of her home country. Having enjoyed a 10-year career as a successful executive chef before leaving to have two children, it wasn’t long before she got back into painting - after a 20-year hiatus.
Her immersive, moving and energetic seascapes and landscapes use a reduced palette to convey a strong sense of atmosphere to the viewer. Her use of contrasting dark and light tones often create an emotional response within the viewer.
